Someone impersonated BT, pretending to be both my landline and mobile provider; after a dozen calls over two weeks I flagged it as a cold‑call scam.

Scammers frequently pose as telecom giants like BT or Three to dupe folk into sharing details or switching providers. These calls from this number show a pattern of misrepresentation, with persistent harassment over weeks and attempts to set up fake business accounts. One instance involved a voicemail from Onecom, which skirts the edge of legitimacy but still reeks of a cold call ploy to undercut your current deal. Block the number immediately, report it to Ofcom or Action Fraud, and never ring back or confirm personal info. Hang up swiftly and verify any claims directly with your real provider to stay safe.

They masquerade as representatives of Three mobile, seeking to set up a business account – best to block and ignore.
A voicemail suggested the caller was from BT discussing a recent price rise, gave a name as my account manager and listed Onecom with a matching landline. Though they didn't claim BT directly, the call was misleading and likely aimed at offering a BT alternative.
