Received an automated call saying it’s an important Westpac message, which felt fishy, so I ignored it, bro.
Why You Should Never Press That Key! - +64 9 886 2402 (09 886 2402)

It’s odd how a single number can masquerade as a bank, a debt collector, and a generic scam all at once. The pattern here points to automated spam calling campaigns that borrow the Westpac brand to add credibility. Callers often ask you to press a key, then drop the line—a classic vishing tactic. Hang up immediately, never share personal details, and block the number through your carrier or phone settings. Report the incident to your bank’s fraud team and consider a call‑blocking app for extra protection. Staying skeptical and using built‑in block features are your best defenses.

I got a recorded greeting claiming it’s an important Westpac message and asking me to press any key; I hung up right away because it felt generic and phishing‑ish, you know.
Westpac's debt collector reached out multiple times. The tone was firm but not overly aggressive.

Upon answering, they immediatly knew my name and my partner's name, which was quite disturbing. A message was played, instructing me to press a hash key to proceed, but the call was terminated as soon as I complied, leving me feeling verry creeped
