Initially suspected it was a scam and disconnected. After contacting Amex through a trusted number, I discovered that the call from this number was actually legitimate 👍

This is the fraud prevention team from American Express.

Upon researching this number online, I discovered it was allegedly associated with Amex account protection, albeit on an unusual part of the American Express website. When I returned the call, they requested my father's date of birth, which seemed suspicious since I didn't recall providing this information to Amex. Their advice was to verify the transaction by contacting the number on the back of my card, which I did, and indeed, there was a transaction that needed confirmation. In such cases, I recommend verifying the call by dialling the number on the back of the card to ensure authenticity.

Initially hesitant to share information, I provided basic details to the Amex fraud team who were verifying a transaction. The representative was kind, which helped ease my concerns. It’s unfortunate that scams make us wary of legitimate bank calls.

I was called by the American Express Fraud Team. After the call, I verified with the number on the back of my card, which confirmed that the caller was legitimate.

To verify the authenticity of the call, I contacted Amex's general support number and confirmed it was indeed their fraud team.

A legitimate American Express representative called regarding a block on my card after I tried to make a large payment for a holiday.

To err on the side of caution, I provided false information during the call, which claimed to be from American Express, and was subsequently advised to contact the number listed on my card.

Missed call from this number, followed by an email about Amex fraud. Called Amex directly, and they confirmed it was a legitimate attempt from their fraud prevention team.

Although this is a genuine American Express contact number, for security, it is recommended to use the official customer service line found on the back of the card

Earlier, my AMEX payment was declined. Fraud prevention called from this number to unblock my card. They only asked for my birth month and two letters from my address to verify my identity.
