Several calls came in from someone introducing themselves as Renee, which seemed fake; when I called back they became abusive and kept ringing until I blocked them.

Block the number immediately if you're receiving persistent unwanted calls. This situation sounds like harassment, where the caller uses a false identity to intimidate or annoy. Don't engage by calling back, as it often encourages more contact. Report the number to your phone provider and authorities like Action Fraud in the UK for investigation. Keep records of calls, including dates and times, to build a case if needed. Consider using call-blocking apps for added protection against repeat offenders. Stay vigilant and prioritise your peace of mind.
