False claim of being Lloyds Bank – it was a scam!

Be cautious of this number as it allegedly represents Bank of Scotland (Lloyds affiliate) in a scamming attempt.

A number posed as Halifax, urging me to call back to verify a supposed withdrawal from my account. A quick search revealed it was fake – stay alert.

I received a message claiming Lloyds Bank had blocked a transaction on my debit card (ending 0***), supposedly made on 06‑12‑2023 at Clinique for £0.00, and asked me to reply YES or NO to confirm. The link redirected me to the banking app and prompted a call – a classic phishing attempt.

Received a text from this number: 'Lloyds Bank has noticed your debit card ending 0*** was used on 06-12-2023 19:00:21, at Clinique for £.00. We've stopped this payment and cancelled it. Please confirm if you made this payment by replying YES or NO. If you don’t reply, future card payments may be declined. You may also receive a notification in our mobile banking.' It directed me to call 08000564874, where a recorded voice, sounding like Lloyds, asked for my full card number, account details, sort code, date of birth, and then the CVV. I realised it was a scam and hung up.

They attempted a fraud after obtaining my bank details.
