Ever wondered why unknown calls from unfamiliar numbers leave you feeling uneasy? These reports paint a picture of dodgy callers pretending to be from telecom giants like Vodafone, EE, and Sky Mobile, only to hang up abruptly or probe for personal info. It's classic scam behaviour—delays before speaking, poor audio, and quick disconnections scream fraud. One sharp respondent wasted their time for eight minutes, a brilliant tactic to thwart them. Block the number immediately, never share details, and report to your provider or Action Fraud. If they persist, let it ring out; engaging just fuels the fire. Stay vigilant to keep scammers at bay.

The line rang, then after a pause a faint voice tried to speak before the call dropped.
Someone pretended to be from Sky Mobile, pitching a phone deal.
The call felt like a scam; she asked numerous questions claiming to be Vodafone, already knew my address and date of birth. I hung up, and when she called back I didn’t answer.
He pretended to be EE yet never asked for any info – total scam, buddy.
A male with an Indian accent said he represented EE; I let him stay on the line for eight minutes, denying him any chance to target another victim. If you can, stall them similarly. They usually pause before answering, repeatedly saying “hello” until you respond—perfect for wasting their effort. I’ve logged this as a scam, and I’ll repeat the tactic if they ring again.

Answered the line and the caller dropped the call instantly, cheers.
A caller pretending to be Vodafone cut the line as soon as I told them I wasn’t a customer.
