Following several declined contactless transactions on my phone, I received a call from this number claiming to be from First Direct. After verifying my details, including my date of birth and postcode, the caller helped resolve the issue with my card. To confirm the call's legitimacy, I contacted First Direct directly. It appears that banks may outsource their call handling to a single company, which would explain why the number isn't specific to one institution.

Following a check on this platform, I discovered that I had received three texts from M&S bank, which appeared to be related to a genuine transaction, and responding to them helped to lift a temporary block on my account, indicating that this number is likely to be associated with the M&S fraud department.
The caller claimed to be from M&S bank, but the call is believed to be a scam.

Following a call from this number claiming to be from M&S fraud, the lady on the phone knew alot about me, including my security questions and some of my personal details, which made me a bit worried, so I contacted M&S and they confirmed it was them
While this seems like a legitimate M&S BANK number, a woman with a strong Asian accent called, claiming to be from FIRST DIRECT BANK. She mentioned fraudulent activity on my First Direct card and immediately wanted me to answer security questions. I declined and asked for details about the card in question. She repeatedly referred to 'Your First Direct card' without specifics until I pressed her. Eventually, she provided the last four digits of a card I didn’t recognize. I hung up, and it turned out the card number was fabricated. Additionally, the number she called from wasn't associated with First Direct, and I don’t even have an M&S Bank account. This was clearly an attempt to access funds from my accounts. I'm glad I was cautious.

The M&S website confirms this as a legitimate number. "Card Security team. Only call this department if you’ve received a letter or voice message from them. Dial 0345 602 1568. Lines are open 24/7."
This appears to be a scam. They seem to be spoofing a legitimate M&S number; hence, it may seem genuine to some while not to others! The wording in the text prior to this call does not match M&S’s usual style.
Approximately two minutes after making a transaction on my M&S credit card, I received a confirmation message to verify its legitimacy

Not a scam, i got a text from M & S, they were checking on a posible fraud transaction, and they rang me back to confirm, thanks M&S for checking, you guy's are very helpfull!
