Got a call the other day about a supposed discount; I was sceptical, said I wasn’t interested, and tried to hang up. The caller swore at me before I could end it – definitely a scammer who couldn’t keep the act up. Mate.

Someone introduced themselves as Daniel from Tesco Mobile, but I don’t use Tesco for my phone. I blocked the number and rarely share my mobile contact.

They claimed they'd lock my SIM card – I identified it as a scam and verified with my provider.

When a 0345 line rang, I initially answered because the prefix is typical for legitimate organisations and added it to contacts, but the male caller claimed to represent Tesco Mobile—a clear phishing attempt. If the number isn’t already trusted, treat it as suspicious, verify via official channels, and avoid responding. Blocking and reporting is advisable.

A fraudulent caller spoofed Tesco Mobile's number, claimed to be my provider, then abruptly hung up.

I dialled the line and a fraudster said they'd sort my issue by sending a SIM. The next day a pricey iPhone was delivered, my account got altered and new Tesco agreements were set up. They then called to claim the phone was mis‑delivered and would be collected. Within an hour and a half a guy in a yellow hi‑vis, no ID tag, showed up at my door asking for the phone back. Hand it over and the scam's complete – they'd have the device and I'd face a massive bill. You know, all seemed to be of Asian descent.

Although this is a legit Tesco number, its a scam, they rang me offering a reduced mobile rate, but i hung up and contacted customer care, who said they hadnt rang me and to never give details to this number
