Got a call claiming I’d snagged a Facebook contest prize worth £50 in plants, but they demanded a £9.95 delivery fee. I stalled and Googled the number – they knew my name, address and phone, but thankfully didn’t have any bank details, mate.
They claimed I’d won a prize and demanded £9.95, which I’ve never had to pay for before; gave no details and then hung up.
Received a call saying I’d won 50 plants on Facebook, but they demanded £9.95 upfront. I asked for a link to verify, they said they needed to post today, so I declined – they also tried to sign me up for a monthly magazine.
Turns out they said I’d bagged a Facebook gardening contest prize with free plants for £9.95 – I let the lady ramble on for a couple of minutes, not really listening, and she didn’t even realise I was zoning out, mate.
