A legitimate Barclays call followed a declined transaction; after paying with another card, they left a voicemail urging urgent contact. I verified via the Barclays app rather than the number on the message, and my account remained on hold until I spoke to them.
The call was a scam; as others have noted, Barclays never initiates calls. Hanging up avoids potential extortionate charges.

Like many others have mentioned, this number apparantly belongs to Barclays Fraud, so if you bank with barclays, i recomend contacting them through a diferent number, just to be safe, even if you stil dont trust this one.
