This individual, claiming to represent aurora group limited, requested a brief moment of my time to discuss HMRC-related matters. Upon asking for their domain, I was instructed to search for the company online. When I asked for an email address to verify their identity, the caller claimed it was not readily available. The encounter seemed potentially dubious, possibly a telemarketing or scam attempt. It is advisable not to disclose any personal information.
Upon answering, a person claiming to be 'Nicoh' from a UK Financial Advice Bureau attempted to initiate a conversation about a potential HMRC claim, but my inquiries about their company led to them terminating the call abruptly.
Initially, the caller had incorrect information about my identity, and when I questioned their company, 'Araura', and their mention of HMRC and a refund, the conversation became heated and I ended the call; a subsequent call from the same number was ignored.
Fraudulent activity was suspected as the individual claiming to represent HMRC requested information they should have already possessed.
The caller claimed to be from HMRC, asking me to answer survey questions, but I terminated the call and blocked the number, as it seemed like a scam, and I didn't want to be bothered
Stricter regulations and hefty fines, including penalties for individual directors, are necessary to prevent such intrusive and unwanted calls, which should be deemed illegal by the Government.
