When I picked up, background noise suggested a call centre; a recorded greeting said, “Hi I’m Adam, may I speak to …” using my first name. I replied that it depended who was calling, paused, then heard “Adam from my car group…”. The conversation stalled and I suspect a scam.

A man with a South African accent called about my successful vehicle finance compensation claim, asked for my email, DOB and postcode, said a solicitor would text instructions, never sent an SMS, likely wanted bank details for a large payout.
