This pattern matches a classic robocall or telemarketing scam that exploits toll‑free numbers to bypass caller‑ID blocking. Recipients should add the number to their phone’s block list, report it to the FCC’s Do Not Call Registry, and consider a third‑party call‑filtering app. If you answer, hang up immediately and avoid providing personal details. Monitoring call logs can also help spot repeat offenders before they become a nuisance.
Direct Energy contacted this number regarding a background check for employment purposes, but it was not relevant to me, so the number was blocked.

After returning one of these calls, I spoke with a representative claiming to be Henry Garcia from Direct Energy, who explained that the calls were related to an ongoing promotion. When I requested to have my number removed from their contact list, the representative abruptly ended the call. This behavior was completely unprofessional.

Since it's a toll free number, they can see your number when you call, you cant block your number when calling toll free numbers, thats just how it is.
I recieved a call from the number 877-547-2414, they didnt leave a voicemail, when I called back, someone ansered saying thank you for calling Direct Energy, but I dont have them as a carrier and am not intersted.
The caller didnt leave a message, just called and hung up.
