Started with anonymous spam, followed by cutting off my internet and cable. Talked super quick, like they were high or something. Then my wife contacted Spectrum and suddenly the service returned. No outage was planned.
The scam attempt was sophisticated, involving a fabricated overdue bill. Having a Spectrum account made the ruse somewhat believable.
The caller attempted to deceive by impersonating a Spectrum representative.

After receiving the same call, I contacted Spectrum, and they confirmed my account balance was zero, my account was in good standing, and there were no status changes; they advised against calling the number back, as this scam has been ongoing for years.
