Strangely, a name like Renee keeps popping up in these unsolicited calls. The pattern across dozens of reports points to a classic financial aid scam where a caller claims you’ve been approved for help you never applied for. They often leave a hurried voicemail and pressure you to call a toll‑free number that routes to a fraud center. Never share personal info or banking info, and hang up if the story feels off. Verify any aid offers directly with the official agency using contact details from their website, not the one in the call. Report the number to your carrier and to the FTC to help curb these scams.
