Scam callers using police IDs – what to do? - +1 813-502-4584 ((813) 502-4584)

Asiantuntijan arvio
When the line goes dead the moment you answer, it’s a classic sign of a silent‑call scam. Callers flash a police‑related ID, claim to be raising funds for a officers’ charity, then drop the call or play a dead‑air recording. This tactic aims to bait curiosity, harvest a "yes" if you speak, or simply harass enough to sell your number. Block the number, add it to the Do Not Call list, and never press any keys if a voice prompt appears. Report repeat offenders to your carrier and the FTC. If you suspect a fraud, hang up immediately and don’t engage.

When I returned the call, the person asked for a donation for the family of a fallen police officer, but when I explained my limited financial situation and offered $10, they insisted on a minimum of $15 and hung up on me when I refused.
Although I didn't answer the call, the caller ID displayed 'Fla Patrolmen', and no message was left.

Scammers, likely posing as fake IRS representatives, have been making repeated calls without leaving messages; it's perplexing that law enforcement hasn't taken action, another disappointment in the US.
