Utility Disconnection Scam Calls: What to Watch For - +1 800-898-8905 ((800) 898-8905)

Opinione dell’esperto
If you get a call from 1‑800‑898‑8905 warning you about an imminent power cut, it’s almost always a scam. The callers pretend to be local electric utilities like SDG&E, X‑Cell Energy, or Seattle City Light, using a spoofed number to sound official. Never give out personal or payment info, and don’t press any digits that could connect you to a live rep. Hang up, verify the threat directly with your utility’s real customer‑service line, and consider filing a report with the FTC or your state consumer protection office. Staying skeptical and confirming through official channels is the best defense.

A bogus threat to cut off service from Seattle City Light was received as a recorded message.
The recording I received was a scam, threatening to disconnect my electric service, targeting numbers associated with Seattle City light in the 206 area.
The caller ID show US GOVT DEP with a local number, probaly spoofed, so I wont post it.
Misrepresentation occurred, with claims of being from XCel and threatening to disconnect service during winter.
The caller claimed to represent X-Cell Energy and threatened to disconnect my service within an hour.
This is a scam, not SDG&E, they claim that your service will be discconected if you dont contact them
The scammer use a fake number to call, and ask you to contact San Diego Gas & Electric to make a payment, but it's not a legit number, i confirmed it with SDG&E.
