It seems that somone is trying to obtain the remaining part of your SS #, having alredy acess to the last 4 digits.
The individual on the phone implied there was an issue with my account, despite my payments being up to date; they also requested the first five digits of my social security number, which is unusual as typically only the last four are asked for.

It is highly improbable that an individual would post a vague notice on a door requesting contact and account information. A more plausible explanation is that the notice was actually a landscape flyer, and the person was under the influence or confused.
Upon finding an orange envelope on my door, I discovered a cryptic message requesting a call to the provided number, with no indication of the company's identity. Following a recent mortgage payment, it seemed suspicious, and the subsequent call only resulted in a busy signal.

Apparently, this number belongs to M&T Mortgage company, which makes courtesy calls to remind customers about mortgage payments, even if they have a 15-day grace period.
For over a year, this number has been calling and leaving messages for someone else, despite being blocked multiple times.
Numerous daily calls from this number have been received, and recently, a handwritten note from M & T Bank was left, instructing to call 1-800-274-1633, despite being up to date on payments
The caller inquired about an individual who, to the best of my knowledge, has never been employed here.
Following a call from 1-800-724-1633, the representative claimed to be from the home mortgage group and requested my SSN. I expressed skepticism, suggesting it might be a scam and refused to provide any information unless they sent a formal letter. After researching the number online, I found it was associated with M & T Bank, so I contacted them using the number on my mortgage statement. It was confirmed to be M&T Bank, and I instructed them not to contact me in this manner unless my account was in arrears, as I do not conduct business over the phone.
