Expert Opinion
Never ignore a missed call from a utility outage line—verify it promptly. If the caller ID shows a name like TSG or PSEG, treat it as a possible outage notification but still double‑check with your electric provider’s official website or customer service line. Avoid sharing personal or payment information unless you’re sure the call is legitimate; scammers often masquerade as utility reps to demand money. Listen for clear branding and specific details about your address or recent service interruptions. When in doubt, hang up and call the utility’s known number back to confirm the message. Keeping a record of the call can help you report any suspicious activity.
