Ever wonder why that unknown number keeps dialing you with a prison‑collect call? Most of these calls are automated messages from services that let inmates reach out, but scammers often hijack the script to press for money or personal info. Never share account numbers, PINs, or confirm a payment on a call you didn’t expect. Hang up, block the number, and report it to your carrier or the FTC. If you think a legitimate inmate is trying to contact you, ask the facility directly for a callback number. Staying skeptical and using collect‑call blockers can keep your line safe.
