Like other users, I received a call claiming that if I wanted to avoid a $399 charge on my card, I had to contact them. Clearly, this is a phishing attempt aimed at obtaining credit card information. It's highly likely that if I had called back, they would have asked for my credit card details, which I refused to do

Expert Opinion
Surprisingly, dozens of callers claim a $399 computer‑service charge and demand a callback to ‘refund’ the amount. The pattern is a classic phone scam that leverages fear and urgency to harvest credit‑card details. Never share personal or payment information with an unsolicited caller, even if they sound professional. Hang up, verify any alleged charge directly with your bank or card issuer, and block the number on your device. Report the incident to the FTC and your local consumer‑protection agency. Keep a log of the call details—date, time, caller ID, and script—to help authorities track repeat offenders.
