Picture yourself fielding a late‑night ring from an unfamiliar 212‑619‑9999 number that claims your credit card is locked. The call plays on urgency, uses vague jargon, and often ends with a request for personal or financial details. Never share account numbers, SSN digits, or passwords over the phone, especially when the caller pressures you to press a key. Hang up, block the number, and report the incident to your carrier and the FTC. Consider enrolling in a reputable call‑blocking service and regularly review your credit reports for unauthorized activity. Staying skeptical and verifying any request through official channels is your best defense.
