Block the number immediately and delete the message to avoid any accidental clicks. Unsolicited texts that claim to be an Uber verification code are a common phishing tactic; Uber never sends a code out of the blue. If you receive a message like this, open the Uber app directly to check for any legitimate requests rather than following links or replying. Report the sender to your carrier and to Uber’s fraud team to help curb future attempts. Keep your phone’s spam filter active and stay skeptical of any text that urges you to share personal info.
The text message was completely bogus, advising against clicking any links; Uber does not send such texts, so it's best to delete and block the number.
