It was launched in 2016 by the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) at Purdue University Northwest, with support from more than 15 member companies including SSAB Americas. The SMSVC aims to address technological issues related to growth while ensuring competitive advantage for American steel manufacturers. In addition, there are other uses of the acronym such as Spiritual, Moral, Social,Vocational and Cultural Education or even an app called Hazard Awareness Simulator Builder v1.0 which helps instructors create interactive training scenarios but it seems like these have no relation whatsoever with this particular sender who keeps sending verification codes regarding Luckin Coffee promotions via text messages using "SMSVC" as their name/sender ID/branding purposes when delivering those texts/messages/codes/promotions/etc..
