I was called three times at 2:45 am, and when I returned the call, it claimed to be Greater Manchester Police, but when I contacted 101, they had no record of the call or its origin.

Názor odborníka
The 0161 856 6300 line is widely recognised as the outbound number used by Greater Manchester Police. Most callers report a short, one‑off ring and no voicemail, which is typical for police follow‑ups on incidents or complaints. However, scammers do spoof police IDs, so always verify the purpose before handing over any personal details. If you weren’t expecting a call, let it go to voicemail and then call the official non‑emergency line (101) yourself. Never call back the number that rang you, as it usually won’t accept inbound calls. Keep a record of the call time and any reference numbers you’re given.

It appears that a mistake was made when I received a call from this number, as the individual claimed I had reported a serious crime and requested my presence. This experience was unsettling, and I hope they will verify the correct number in future interactions.

Bezpečné
Following an incident where my grandson accidentally dialled 999, I received a call from them, which was reassuring given my epilepsy, and fortunately, there was no emergency.
It's suspicious that the call arrived a day after I provided my number to 101, and the police officer's name on the screen appears to be fictional, suggesting a scam.
